MERAL MANSUROĞLU Biography
Meral Mansuroğlu who was born in Acıbadem, Istanbul, took her passion of Turkish Classical Music from her father and she started singing Turkish Music just five years old.
The artist, who graduated from Ikbaliye Primary School and Levent High School, then attended to Uskudar Turkish Classical Music Community for eight (8) years. During this time, she took duty as a soloist on the concerts for seven (7) years. Precious composers like Amir Ateş and Emir Ongan helped her on her repertory studies.
Amir Ateş has an important position on her life as a brother, teacher and as n greatest supporter.
During her studies at Uskudar Turkish Classical Music Community, she found very important opportunities on practicing with mostly precious and valuable teachers, vocal and instrument artists who are mostly passed away.
She took theoretical lessons from departed Kanun player Nuri Sesören , also theoretical and repertory lessons from departed teacher Melahat Pars and took “ud” lessons from Prof. Dr. Mutlu Torun and Irfan Özbakır.
She won the vocal contest of TRT with over 12.000 applications and rivals as first place with the “ Gözümde daim hayal-i cana” and “Hicranla geçen günleri hasretle anarken” songs on the Turkish Classical Music branch. After wining the competition, she started making solo programmes for TRT.
In 1978, she met with the kanun teacher Nevzat Sümer in MESAM (formerly SANEM) and stared making soloist records. Meral Mansuroğlu who endured repertory studies with Nevzat Sümer for two years , took distinction lessons from Güher GÜNEY.
In 1980, when she was just a prep student at conservatory, she won the professional artists contest of Istanbul Municipality Conservatory and later on she permanently signed to be an artist at Exercise Commission of the Conservatory. She found the opportunity to meet with precious vocal and instrument artists such as Süheyla Altmışdört, Hakkı Özkan, Rıza Rit, Muzaffer Birtan, Ruhi Ayangil at the Exercise Commission and at the Conservatory.
In 1981, she also won the contest of TRT on Turkish Classical Music Branch and she signed as a permanent artist at TRT. She endured her bilateral career at TRT and Exercise Commission for two years. But later on, when enduring two careers at the same time started to be tough, she abdicated her position at the Exercise Commission and continued her career on TRT.
During her studies at TRT, she took lessons from very precious teachers such as Tülin Yakarçelik & Fethi Karamahmutoğlu.
After enduring her career until 1990, when the conditions started to be tougher, she abdicated from permanent artist position but never cut her relation with the TRT and she is still serving to TRT Istanbul Radio Station with her solo programmes.
The artist contributed and supported lots of charity works, organized domestic and international lots of concerts. She also believes the Musical Communities’ importance and she supports that every musician should help to the musical communities on both material and spiritual meaning as a primary responsibility. Just because of this, she never rejected any invitation which comes from a musical community.
The artist has three records. First one was made by Şahin Özer, the second one was by FERDIFON and the last one was signed by RAKS.
The artist who finished second degree of Turkish Sign Language, is active in Hearing-impaired Federation in amateur way. She vocalized the education CDs prepared by this federation concentrated on coaching interpreters and teachers among the hearing-impaired. She has a very unique way among the other artists which is while singing the song, she can also explain the words to the hearing-impaired at her concerts and also at the programmes she attends.
The artist still goes on her music studies at Radio & TV programmes, concerts, and clubs. |
