Bora Gencer Biography
Bora Gencer was born in 14th April of 1965 in Maçka / Istanbul and got his primary school degree from Macka School. After graduating from the primary school, leading with the grandma and the whole family tried to persuade him for the conservatory exams. He already had the music ability and talent. Just because of this he got 193 over 200 points of the Istanbul State Conservatory.
As an instrument, he loved to play piano but, he choose violin instead of piano. The reason was, everybody was able to play piano at his family and the piano lessons were already at the supplementary position in the conservatory.
After seven years of conservatory education, he jumped into his music career with the proposal of his own father. In May 1985, he went to Erzincan 59th Artillery Unit for his military duty. And he finished his duty in Erzincan Army Social Facility. After returning to Istanbul, he approved the offer which came from his organizer army friend Kerem Erdem to go to Israel and enduring his art career there.
Later on, the artist returned to Istanbul and he accomplished hundreds of programmes and concerts in Istanbul’s good locations.
The artist lost his beloved mother in 1991 in a traffic accident and he faced his life’s biggest demolish.
In 1994, he met with Halis Butunley and Garo Mafyan and with their help, he released his first album named “Öptüm Seni Şeker” in 1995’s first months recorded by Mega Music.
With this song which signed by Aysel Gürel and Garo Mafyan, he hugged a great popularity. In 1995, the artist participated to some TV and Radio programmes and he organized a single Turkey-wide tour. This tour led him to see the reality of Anatolia and became a great experience for him.
Bora Gencer’s tours were going on its own pace as usually. He shared the same stage with Demet, Asya , Harun Kolcak , Deniz Arcak , Gulay , Suat Suna, Secil , Kerim Tekin etc. Firstly, he and Kerim were in a serious argument but later on, they stick to each other.
Beside his professional tour and concert performances, he also struggled with his amateur soul and he entered to lots of amateur competitions too. In such a competition (Pamukkale Fest) he and his brother İlhan Gencer took the first place and found the chance to perform in the Cairo International Music Contest in Egypt. He and his brother won the most valuable award in this contest. Later on, he got the third place with his own lyrics and music in another competition which is organized for Onno Tunc’s memories and soul. This valuable award has a special meaning for the artist just because of his love and respect to Onno Tunc.
In 1999, the artist released his new and second album named “Allah” recorded by Elenor Music.
Firstly the album consisted ten songs but later on, for the memories of departed Kerim Tekin he raised the number of the songs in the album up to twelve and he made his first video clip to “Neden Allahım (Why , G.O.D. Why?)” which was Kerim’s favourite.
His third album was released by Prestij Music namely “Baştan Çıktım” in 2001. Beside being a vocal and instrumental artist , he took roles in mini-films ,soap-operas and he prepared some TV programmes. Some of them were ; a children programme called “Havuz Show” , Alabora Reality Show , a talk show called “Istanbul’da Bir Guzel” and a musical called “Delidolu” and finally “Bize Ne Oldu? (What happened to us?) “. Director Ümit Efekan proposed him to play as the lover of Sibel Can. The cast was dressed up with Fatma Girirk , Merih Akalin , Tanju Gürsu , Altan Günbay and Sibel Can.

After “Yazmadıysa Kader” song , his second video clip is about to finish. With the second video clip of his fourth album, he has reached up to total of eleven video clips.
